SUMMARY:Building STEA²M Summer Break Camp 2020
DESCRIPTION:The Building STEA²M Summer Break Camp will be held at New Prospect from June 1st – July 31st\, Monday – Friday\, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.  The cost of the camp is $110 per week/per camper.  Breakfast\, lunch and a snack are included in the price.  There is also a $30 registration fee per child\, which will save their spot and includes a camp t-shirt.\n\n\n\nThis is for children between the ages of 6-13.  Each day includes hands-on design challenges that focus on engineering disciplines and STEA²M (Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Arts\, Agriculture and Math).  Activities include chess\, yoga\, science & robotics projects and gardening. Parents know that education is the gateway to opportunity\, so people of means exercise choice by moving to better school districts or paying private school tuition. What about everyone else?\n\n\n\nThe Association of Christian Schools International Urban School Services wants to partner with New Prospect Baptist Church to extend the Village Well with a Christ-centered\, academically rigorous high school that prepares our young people to flourish in their calling. DESCRIPTION:Presented by Interact For Health\, Sunday\, May 17th is No Menthol Sunday – a national interfaith effort to educate communities about the negative impact of tobacco use. The current pandemic has exacerbated African Americans’ smoking-related health outcomes\, increasing our risk for more severe COVID-19 complications and even death.\n\n\n\nOne of Interact for Health’s priorities is to reduce the rate of tobacco use in our region. In Cincinnati\, 24% of adults smoke. However\, 7 in 10 (68%) African American smokers usually smoke menthol cigarettes compared with just 2 in 10 (19%) white smokers. That’s not an accident. The tobacco industry has a history of targeting menthol cigarette advertising toward African Americans. We are using this national day of education to work with churches and organizations in our community to start furthering the conversation about the dangers of flavored tobacco on our community.\n\nFor more information visit www.nomentholsunday.org.
